Gordon Murdoch Douglas

Passed Away: 18 July,1996
Dad worked for the Hudson Bay Company in the 50s and 60s as a Manager Fur Trader. First in Northern Ontario, then in Northern Saskatchewan, where he met His future wife, Agnes MacDonald. He then started his soon-to be large family. He owed a dog team and mink ranch during the birth of his first son Andrew, then Moved to Uranium City where he worked for Air Sask as a ramp attendant, when his second son Fred was born. Soon after he started at Eldorado Nuclear Mines Where he spent, 11 years. During that time his other four children were born, son David, daughter Margaret, son Wayne and youngest son Kirt. He worked hard to Raise his family and enjoyed the responsibility of raising us right. Tragedy did strike the family hard in September 1971, when son Wayne died at 5 years old in a Terrible accident. He was deeply affected, but kept the family tightly together and continued to be a wonderful father, husband and provider. In 1974 Dad made a hard Decision to move his family to Port Hardy BC, where he worked at Island Copper. He raised his surviving children with unconditional love and support, enjoyed our Many accomplishments, graduating, raising new families and our own career choices.
Dad retired April,1993 as a Mill Foreman and shared his day with many of his friends, co-workers and family. We were proud of you Dad. Dad help diligently with the Family business. Enjoyed traveling, fishing, sports and golfing. His pride and joy – his children and grandchildren.
Dad you gave us your love, strength, attention and yourself. You’re the greatest man we’ll ever know. Proud, respected, loved, generous, honest, funny and full of wisdom. A true fighter, even in your last moments with us. We’re going to miss you Daddy, Grandpa, Poppy, friend, mentor, Our rock. Thank you, thank you, Thank you. You are now with us in our heart. Your spirit will live in us forever. We will love you always.
I want to share this with the friends of Uranium City, because some our fondest memories are growing up in such a wonderful place, with wonderful people. My Dad’s Best memories are of Uranium City and Eldorado. He truly had a wonderful time at the Vernon Reunion and often talked about it. Thank you for keeping the Flame Alive.
